DescriptionThe Youth Network on Community and Sustainable Development seeks a dynamic, self-starter to assist in the branding and communications efforts of the Organization. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of communications for Development (C4D) while working in a casual work environment. The Communications Intern will work independently and in a team to fulfill organizational goals and initiatives related to programming and events.This will be an interesting yet challenging role, to work with a Team of young and inspiring development experts to solve issues around sexual and reproductive health and rights for young people as well as ending harmful traditional practices like Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting.Qualifications
Firm grasp of social media tools and platforms including Facebook, Instagram etc.
Completed or working toward a University degree , preferably in a related field (e.g., English, Marketing/Communications, Advertising or Public Relations)
Previous internship or related experience in communications is a plus
Must be computer literate (working knowledge of word processing, PowerPoint, Excel). Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop highly desired.
Knowledge of HTML, website content management and graphic design a plus
Possess excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
Genuine enthusiasm for creating compelling communications materials to support a wide range of current and anticipated programmes.
Self-starter, good time management, creative, with ability to communicate in a professional manner
Ability to work well independently, and within a team
Commitment to the continuous improvement of service quality and the organization’s mission
Willingness to travel 20% of the time and on short notice
Responsibilities
Assist in planning, writing and managing e-blasts and e-newsletters.
Update organization website using WordPress with current events, relevant news, etc.
Design event/program fliers, graphics and other communications materials and products
Design and create content for websites and social media platforms
Update and maintain the Organizations social media presence, including daily monitoring, posting, scheduling and reporting Facebook updates
Manage editorial and event calendars
Collaborate with staff on new ideas, directions, and tools for marketing and communications
Start Date: 21st January 2019 or earlierHours: 16 hours/week, including weekly planning meeting with supervisorCompensation: Stipends to be negotiated when an offer is made
