The Role

As the Accountant, your role will involve overseeing the hotel’s day-to-day financial activities in strict adherence to international hospitality accounting regulations and Nigerian tax legislation. You will collaborate closely with department heads and senior leadership to enhance profitability while upholding stringent financial precision.

Oversee and execute a range of critical duties, including the development, implementation, and monitoring of strategic initiatives that align with organizational objectives. Provide leadership in managing cross-functional teams to ensure seamless collaboration and optimal performance, while fostering an environment of innovation and continuous improvement. Analyze data and performance metrics to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for enhancement, then translate insights into actionable strategies that drive efficiency and growth. Ensure adherence to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices through meticulous oversight and proactive risk management. Serve as a key liaison between senior leadership and operational teams to facilitate clear communication, streamline decision-making, and support long-term business success.

Accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including profit and loss reports, is required as part of the financial reporting responsibilities.

Cost Control & Budgeting: Responsible for overseeing hotel expenditures, evaluating budget variances, and collaborating with the Food & Beverage and Operations teams to oversee inventory management and minimize waste.

Oversee the nightly revenue audit process to meticulously reconcile and record all room, banquet, and ancillary revenues with precision.

Ensure the accurate and punctual filing and remittance of all statutory deductions, including VAT, WHT, PAYE, and CIT, in strict adherence to the regulatory guidelines set forth by the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and the Lagos Inland Revenue Service (LIES).

Cash Flow Management: Responsible for the oversight of accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit administration, and the preparation of daily cash flow projections.

Develop, implement, and enhance internal control policies to ensure the protection of hotel assets and mitigate the risk of fraudulent activities.

What We Are Looking For

A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field is required.

A recognized qualification such as ACA, ARCA or CPA is essential.

A minimum of five to seven years of progressively responsible accounting experience within the hospitality sector is required.

Experienced in utilizing hospitality ERP systems, including QuickBooks and advanced MS Excel functionalities.

Strong analytical capabilities, elevated emotional intelligence, and an unwavering commitment to strict confidentiality are essential for this role.
