We are seeking a seasoned Practice Director to lead our Value Innovation (VI) practice in Lagos. We are in search of a seasoned Practice Director to oversee the daily functions of a highly regarded law firm and act as the Founding Partner’s operational deputy.
Oversee and execute critical operational functions, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and industry standards. Provide strategic direction and leadership to teams, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement. Collaborate with cross-functional departments to streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and drive measurable business outcomes. Monitor performance metrics, identify areas for optimization, and implement data-driven solutions to achieve long-term success. Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies while upholding the highest standards of professional integrity. Act as a key liaison with senior management, stakeholders, and external partners to facilitate transparent communication and strategic alignment.
Responsibilities include directing the firm’s overall operations, administrative functions, IT infrastructure, facilities management, and regulatory compliance efforts.
Oversee financial planning, invoicing, receivables management, financial statement preparation, and profitability analysis.
Lead the full recruitment lifecycle, oversee performance management initiatives, foster employee engagement strategies, and implement comprehensive staff development programs.
Deliver exceptional client service and adeptly address complex client issues that require immediate resolution.
Assist with expanding business opportunities, enhancing firm branding, organizing events, and driving strategic growth initiatives to foster long-term success.
Collaborate effectively with regulatory bodies, government entities, institutional clients, and critical stakeholders to ensure alignment and compliance.
Requirements
With at least a decade of experience in managing law firms, professional services firms, or senior operational leadership roles, candidates should demonstrate a strong background in organizational oversight and strategic direction.
Experienced professionals in managing financial operations and profit-and-loss statements autonomously are required. Successful candidates must have a demonstrated track record of independent financial oversight and responsibility.
With a proven track record in managing and guiding teams of 15 or more individuals, the ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills to oversee daily operations and drive team performance. The role requires the ability to motivate, mentor, and coordinate a diverse group, ensuring alignment with organizational goals while fostering a collaborative and productive work environment. Experience in delegation, conflict resolution, and performance management will be essential to maintain high standards and achieve collective success.
A bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, Finance, or a comparable discipline is required for this position.
Proven expertise in legal practice management software, timekeeping and billing applications, and document management solutions is required.
Preferred
A Juries Doctor (J.D.) or equivalent law degree, along with an advanced specialization such as a Master of Laws (LL.M.), is required for this position. Candidates must possess a strong academic background in law, demonstrating expertise in international or comparative law, or a related field.
