Job Summary

The Head, Procurement is responsible for developing, monitoring and implementing the company’s corporate and functional procurement strategy through efficient and effective cost management techniques.

Job Responsibilities

Oversee the general management and administration of vendors within the company including procurement of good and services and insurance cover.
Develop strategies for procurement.
Manage the contracting, tender and engagement processes of the company to achieve competitiveness, transparency and economies of scale
Coordinate accredition, enlistment and delisting of third party service providers to the company through established and documented criteria.
Ensure continuous monitoring of local/foreign markets with a view to keeping abreast of market developments through market surveys and intelligence report on prevailing rental and capital value of goods and services.
Arrange for timely custom clearing of imported materials and transportation of same to company.
Ensures that import duty assessment and insurance of goods are established on time and that all shipping information are available.
Ensures continuous communication with vendors representatives with the view of updating prices of spare parts.
Participate in periodic internal and external purchasing/tender committee meetings.
Manage and coordinate the dissemination of procurement information within the company and to external stakeholders or suppliers.
Support activities that ensure current operations, practices and processes are in alignment with corporate objectives and best practices.
Coordinate and supervise team activities and ensure compliance with the company’s operating policies, controls and procedures.
Monitor/manage performance of subordinates against preassigned goals.

Procurement Contract Report
Weekly/monthly Purchase Report
Price Survey Report
Key performance indicators
Cost effectiveness of purchased goods and services
Cost of purchases versus market prices
Efficiency of procurement process
Time taken to source for materials
Percentage compliance of activities with laid down purchasing policies and procedures
Time taken to clear imported goods
Availability of goods when needed
Number of compliant from user departments.

Person’s Specification Education:

Minimum of a University Degree in engineering and relevant discipline.
Project Management Certification
Post graduate and/or professional qualification is an advantage

Experience:

Minimum of 8-10 years’ work experience in procurement within production, power generation and manufacturing industry.
