MAG is in search of a seasoned Country Director to spearhead and represent our initiatives in Nigeria, while simultaneously overseeing smaller-scale projects across Benin and Côte d’Ivoire. This high-level position entails establishing the strategic vision, guaranteeing efficient program execution, and enhancing MAG’s in-country footprint and collaborative alliances.

The Country Director will spearhead MAG’s in-country strategic direction and representation, reporting directly to MAG UK with full accountability for the successful execution, management, oversight, and assessment of the country program. This position guarantees rigorous governance and seamless alignment of strategic, programmatic, and operational priorities to uphold the integrity, excellence, and coherence of MAG’s initiatives.

You will be responsible for the comprehensive oversight of all program activities, guaranteeing their safe, efficient, and compliant execution in accordance with MAG policies, donor specifications, and international benchmarks. This encompasses leading the team, spearheading the formulation and implementation of annual business plans, and fostering seamless collaboration across strategic, operational, and program domains.

This position encompasses comprehensive management of program budgets and financial performance, guaranteeing rigorous financial oversight across various grants and contracts. In addition, you will actively seek out business development prospects, cultivate and sustain relationships with donors and partners, and provide leadership in proposal development and reporting.

The Country Director will serve as MAG’s primary liaison with government authorities, donors, and partners, while ensuring rigorous oversight of security management and operational risk. In this role, you will collaborate with MAG’s Global Leadership Team to shape organizational strategy and uphold MAG’s core values and operational standards.

Seeking a candidate with a minimum of five years of experience in a relevant field, preferably in a management or leadership role. The ideal applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and possess strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Familiarity with industry-specific software and tools is essential, along with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Additionally, the role demands a proven track record of meeting deadlines, managing multiple priorities, and collaborating across departments to achieve organizational goals.

With a proven track record of leading international operations in senior management roles within intricate and demanding business landscapes.

Demonstrates firsthand experience residing and operating within the country, equipped with a deep comprehension of its political, socioeconomic, and cultural dynamics. Possesses familiarity with national and local governance systems, as well as regulatory and institutional frameworks.

A demonstrated track record in overseeing and leading complex, large-scale projects, encompassing all stages from implementation and management to monitoring, evaluation, risk assessment and mitigation, as well as ensuring adherence to contract terms.

Experienced in leading and managing diverse teams comprising individuals from various disciplines and cultural backgrounds, frequently in remote or challenging operational settings.
