Program Officer

Job Responsibility

Be responsible for the strategic planning, progress reporting, program development , monitoring and evaluation  of programs.
Build and nurture effective working relationships with the local authorities and other related agencies at state, local and community level to facilitate the effective implementation of program for the benefit of women and children.
Interact with various Donors, explain the Program objectives and expenditure to Donors and negotiate funding and plan of activities when requested.
Prepare  budgets based on the detailed work plan and monitor project budgets regularly (monthly, quarterly and bi-annually)
Be aware of and follow all financial policies, procedures  and regulations  to ensure the integrity of financial documents, procedures and reports.
Work closely with country representatives of international donor agencies in designing and implementing  projects as well as promoting further collaboration in community development sectors to ensure that we have shared common focus, working together to obtain the goals of designed programs.
Work under the supervision of Executive Director to oversee the effective management of women issues related programs in Nigeria and to ensure they are appropriately resourced and implemented.
Supervise other Program Assistants  to manage the day-to-day operation of assigned projects . Conduct Performance Evaluation of Program assistants  to maintain job satisfaction and address staff development needs.

Qualifications

University degree in social sciences and/or community development studies with a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience in Women/gender based issues.
Have experience working for United Nations donor agencies funded projects.
Ability to think strategically, conceptualize new ideas, digest and analyze complex information and present coherent work plan or implementation plan
Excellent interpersonal skill to liaise with national and local high ranking officers
Strong presentation and facilitation skills, including an ability to build relationships and capacity with national and local partners
Possess professional attitude and diligence and able to work independently as well as work in a team
Excellent English speaking and writing skills
Willingness to often travel to the project site when required.
