Job FunctionTo support the Managing Director of an operating company in the formulation and execution of strategy as well as to take accountability for an operating company’s financial health by planning, analysing, advising and reporting on financial strengths and weaknesses to improve financial performance, alignment to financial governance and the unit’s risk profile.
Key performance areas
Functional
Ensure daily, weekly, monthly reporting to Imperial is submitted accurately and on time
Cash management
Debtors management
Monthly GL reconciliations
Creditors management
Ensure adherence to legal and statutory requirements
Develop, implement and ensure compliance with the group’s financial processes, policies and disciplines
Continuous improvement of internal financial and operational processes
Assist the Managing Director with managing the company’s specific business risks
Update of costing model
Manage all IT requirements and continuous improvement of internal systems
Strategic
Provide strategic direction to the business
Key team member in the implementation and monitoring of company’s strategic plan
Manage and enhance all relevant result indicators with a specific focus on:
Return on invested capital
Working capital
Net debt
Operating margin
And other relevant measurements and indicators
Enhance management reporting
Ensuring good results to internal and external audits
Monitor internal controls: financial and operational
Play a key role in strategy, analysis and forecasting
Culture
Assist in preparation of tender costings
Prepare annual budgets and strategic plans
Qualifications required
Charted Accountant or related financial qualification
At least 5-10 years’ experience in an asset light logistics business
Meticulous, detailed, well organised and able to work independently
Assertive with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint)
Skills and experience required
Sound knowledge of Nigerian Taxation Legislation, FIRS, IAS, IFRS and Companies Act
Strong financial, taxation and auditing skills
Relevant Labour Legislation
Conceptual, analytical and strategic problem solving skill
Excellent inter-personal and communication skills
Leadership skills
Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
