About the jobThis role falls under the direct management of the Warehouse Project Manager (PM). The WH construction supervisor oversees and the construction of a warehouse site in Dikwa/ Damasak, manages contractors on site and provides technical support for the PM. The construction supervisor will be on a temporary assignment of 6 weeks and be based FT in Dikwa/ Damasak with some travel to Maiduguri if requested.. Your main duties and responsibilities will be:Core Functions / Responsibilities:
Monitor all aspects of site construction and site operations of the WFP MSU site in Dikwa and Damasak.
Interpret structural drawings and develop bill of quantities.
Preparation of progress reports including site pictures for project phase.
Lead regular site meetings with professionals, including engineer, surveyors, foremen, subcontractors etc.
Maintain strict quality control procedures – this necessitates regular testing of materials, visual inspections of work, and frequent tours of the site and operation.
Conduct regular site safety checks.
Find solutions to problems that may cause delays, such as the late arrival of materials etc.

Experience working with reinforced concrete and block masonry and providing quality control.
Technical skills using AutoCAD, MS office.
Capability to establish good and respectful relationship with other actors;
Able to train and manage a team (to listen, advise, support, solve conflicts, motivate, etc.
Experience in preparing valuation certificates
Experience in vetting contractor valuations
Experience with participatory fieldwork, methodologies, monitoring and reporting;
Valid local driving license.
Knowledge of humanitarian principles and code of conduct.
Patience, good personal organization, good communication and ability to work in teams.
Very good interpersonal and diplomatic skills.
Initiative, flexibility, team spirit, willingness to learn, and a positive attitude;
Ability to work under time pressure, independently and with limited supervision;
Willingness to travel between Dikwa, Damasak and Maiduguri if necessary.
Qualifications/ Experience Required
The engineer should have a BA/ Master’s degree in Building/ Construction engineering, civil engineering or architecture.
The candidate should have at least 4 years’ experience in building construction supervision.
Registration with a professional body like COREN etc., is desirable.
Experience working with an INGO is desirable.
