Location: Maiduguri, Borno Job Description

Contribute to Core Competency strategy development, project proposals and provide input on needs and gaps
Manage and implement the agriculture component of the EU funded project (activities, budget and project documentation) as delegated from Project Manager in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements and ensure high technical quality
Liaison with Ministry of RRR, BOSADP and FADAMA in planning, design, development and farming input support schemes and linking it with the rehabilitation of smallholder irrigation schemes in Borno state.
Carry out needs assessments to select the most vulnerable families to be targeted for agricultural support
Assist the Project Manager in designing agricultural input support schemes and delivery modalities taking into consideration seasonality, farmer preferences, market needs and environmental considerations
Responsible for coordination with all key stakeholders (particularly FAO) to avoid overlaps.

Qualifications

B.Sc. Agronomy, Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Crop Science
Experience working as an Agricultural Extension Agent
Experience from working on livelihoods and food security project implementation position in a humanitarian/recovery context
Start-up of livelihoods and food security programs
Good understanding of climate smart agriculture (CSA)
Good understanding of Borno State Agricultural Zones and FADAMA
Multi sector approaches
Work experience of implementing cash/voucher and in-kind distribution of farming inputs
Work experience of implementation through/with remote access
Fluency in English, both written and verbal
Able to speak fluent Kanuri and Hausa languages
Preferable knowledge of the following: EUTF, DEVCO procedures
Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile

We Offer

Commencement: April 2018
Duration: 12 months
Salary/benefits: According to NRC’s general directions.(Grade Level 7 Step 1)
Duty station: Maiduguri, with 60% travels to Local Government Areas. Travel outside Maiduguri is dependent on changing security conditions, especially for certain roads in the area.
Approved health certficate will be requested before contract start.
