You should be a confident writer of investigative reporting and analysis and have a demonstrated history of producing stories that break news and attract national attention.
You should be able to generate your own story ideas and tell stories about how Nigerian politics are playing out in ways large and small.

Write because you want to be read – and know how to get people to read your work
Be self-motivated
Be prepared to lead by example
Be eager to both learn from and mentor other reporters
Know how to cover sensitive topics with compassion and verve
Be eager to collaborate with other reporters
Have a wide range of interests, from hard news to entertainment
Live for the thrill of being first to a story
