As a cook in a boarding school, your primary responsibility will include preparing wholesome, large-quantity meals for both students and staff in strict accordance with food safety, hygiene, and dietary regulations. This position encompasses menu development, bulk ingredient preparation, inventory oversight, and ensuring the kitchen remains impeccably clean, with potential early morning, evening, or weekend shifts required.
Oversee and execute a comprehensive range of critical duties and responsibilities, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and operational excellence. Serve as a key contributor to strategic initiatives, collaborating across departments to drive efficiency, innovation, and measurable outcomes. Perform tasks with a high degree of accountability, adhering to established policies, procedures, and industry standards to maintain compliance and mitigate risks. Lead, mentor, or support team members as needed, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development. Analyze performance metrics and key indicators to identify trends, address gaps, and recommend data-driven solutions for enhanced productivity and effectiveness. Maintain meticulous documentation, reporting, and record-keeping to support decision-making and regulatory requirements.
Food Preparation: Develop and prepare nutritious, high-quality, and visually appealing meals tailored to serve large groups of students and faculty.
Prepare modified recipes and offer alternative meal selections to accommodate students with allergies, religious dietary restrictions, or medical conditions.
Ensure meticulous compliance with health and safety regulations by strictly following protocols for food storage, temperature regulation, and sanitation of all kitchens, dining hall, and equipment areas.
Assist in the receipt of food deliveries, track inventory levels, and implement strategies to minimize food waste.
Collaborate with the Head Chef or Kitchen Manager to synchronize meal preparation schedules with the school’s daily bell schedule, ensuring efficient teamwork and timely execution.
