Job Summary

The Managing Director will lead the cooperative, fostering membership expansion while overseeing credit and loan operations with precision. Additionally, the role involves directing staff performance, reinforcing financial controls, and maintaining profitable, sustainable operations to ensure long-term success for the organization.

Oversee a range of critical duties including managing daily operations, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and fostering collaboration across departments to drive organizational efficiency. Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance productivity, streamline workflows, and achieve long-term business objectives. Monitor performance metrics, analyze data trends, and provide actionable insights to senior leadership to inform decision-making. Serve as a primary point of contact for cross-functional teams, facilitating communication and resolving escalated issues to maintain seamless operations. Lead process improvements, mentor junior staff, and champion innovative solutions to optimize resource allocation and cost-effectiveness.

Spearhead the cooperative’s daily operations while maintaining accountability to the Board and Executive Committee through regular reporting.

Enhance membership acquisition, expand savings initiatives, and foster business development opportunities.

Manage all aspects of loan operations, including marketing, appraisal, disbursement, ongoing monitoring, and recovery processes.

Oversee accounting operations, financial reporting procedures, cash management strategies, and internal control systems.

Oversee staff performance, foster teamwork, uphold discipline, and ensure the delivery of quality services.

Ensure thorough documentation, adherence to regulatory requirements, proactive risk management, and full audit preparedness are consistently maintained.

Foster meaningful connections with community members, local groups, businesses, and institutions across Cuba and its neighboring regions.

Seeking candidates with a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant discipline, supplemented by a minimum of five years of hands-on experience in a comparable role. Demonstrated expertise in project management, data analysis, and strategic planning is essential, along with proficiency in industry-standard software tools. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, are required to collaborate effectively across teams and stakeholders. Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities are necessary to drive innovation and optimize processes. Familiarity with regulatory compliance and best practices in the field is a valued asset.

A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Banking & Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Marketing, Cooperative Management, or a closely related commercial or social science discipline is required.

With a minimum of seven years of pertinent experience, including at least five years in a managerial capacity within a financial institution, microfinance bank, cooperative, or credit organization, candidates are expected to meet these qualifications.

Accomplished professional with extensive expertise in marketing, credit administration, accounting, loan management, and leading high-performing teams.

Required competencies encompass strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, proficient communication skills for both written and verbal interactions, and a solid foundation in relevant technical tools or methodologies. Candidates should demonstrate exceptional organizational talents, meticulous attention to detail, and the capacity to manage multiple priorities efficiently. Prior experience in a similar role is essential, along with a proven track record of delivering results within designated timelines.
