Location: Ngala, (Borno State) with movements inside the state
Probationary Period: 1 month
Contract Duration: 3 months, subject to renewal upon available donor funding.
Mission/Objectives: Cook/Cleaner

The cook/Cleaner is responsible for preparing meals on request for Solidarités International expatriate staff, in accordance with the rules of hygiene.
He/she cleans the living and working areas of Solidarités International staff to keep them clean, hygienic and pleasant.
He/she also takes care of the laundry for Solidarités International expatriate personnel
He/she is also responsible for purchasing the food and equipment necessary for this work, and the maintenance of his/her workspace.

Main Task :

Wash plates, dishes, cutlery
Keep the kitchen, cooking utensils and refrigerator clean. Disinfect the refrigerator regularly.
Inform his/her line manager of any cooking equipment required and of any missing or damaged materials
Prepare and clean the dining area before and after meals
Buy the produce required for meal preparation, within the fixed budget
Keep a log recording all expenditure and regularly settle advances relating to the purchase of food
Manage food and commodity stocks for expatriate accommodation
Prepare meals according to the fixed number of people and definite planning, checking that the food is
healthy and the menus varied
Respect the essential hygiene regulations and maintain exemplary conditions of hygiene in the kitchen and storage areas
Monitor the provision of filtered water to living and working areas, ensuring that water filters are disinfected regularly
Wash the floors with disinfectant
Clean offices, tables, cupboards… / make beds
Clean and disinfect the bathrooms and toilets
Ensure that each bathroom is equipped with toilet paper, soap and a hand towel
Empty waste paper baskets and rubbish bins
Wash, dry and iron the clothes of Solidarités expatriate personnel, towels and bedclothes, upon expatriates request
Manage the stock of cleaning products under the supervision of his/her direct supervisor
Regularly undertake a thorough clean
Ensure that no unauthorised person (other than the maintenance agent, cook and expatriates) enters the house

Support the drafting of activities reports and amendments (including any annexes relating to specific activities) for the financial donors, local authorities and for internal purposes (weekly and monthly reports) by compiling all the operational data before sending them to the WASH Program Manager;

Ensure that all reports required by the WASH Program Manager are delivered on time and in the correct format;

In his / her assignment area, might be appointed to represent SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL at meeting or forums concerning the activities

In collaboration with the WASH Program Manager, and administrative department, support the preparation of administrative documents (MoU, handover, etc.) to be jointly signed with government authorities, communities or partner’s

Personal abilities :                                                                                              

Languages: English, (Haussa, Kanuri a plus)                                                                                                                    
Personal qualities: reliable, clean, honest, very good organization, good knowledge of the local market                                                   

Technical competences :

HND Food & Nutrition/Technology
Ability to cook various meals (African & European food)
