This job is located in Abuja and will involve extensive travel across Nigeria where farms are located. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, strategic and innovated agro-expert and enthusiast, whose job duties will include but not be limited to:
Working with management to handle paperwork and keeping administrative records.
Giving regular updates and reports to the CEO as and when required.
Working with management to recruit, train/instruct and supervise farm workers.
Working with management to ensure work on farms complies with government regulations and health and safety standards.
Working with management to keep an up-to-date database of pests and diseases.
Develop method for crop production and conduct regular field checks.
Conduct Insect, weed and disease monetary/diagnosis; oil moisture status monitoring; Ag chemical Fertilizer and seed recommendation; Soil sampling plant growth monitoring and field marking and mapping
Create and maintain irrigation schedules.
Crop budget and planning
Provide personal consultation with customers as and when required
Ensure that farms are profitable and meets projected financial targets
Advertise and market farm products or the work of farmers (as and when required) including making Education/promotions.
Skills/ Knowledge
Computer literate with excellent understanding and capability to use Microsoft office suite
Strong business operation and administrative skills
Able to lead a team while working under the instructions of senior team members
Good diagnostic and decision making skills
Effective communication (written and verbal)
Ability to work independently
Desire to serve farmers and others involved in the agricultural industry
Willingness to work as a team member
Desire to remain updated with new agricultural trends and technology
Good work ethics
Able and willing to work long hours in the field
Willing to travel
Requirements:
Graduate with a degree in Agriculture with emphasis on agronomy, crop, soil and weed management.
Proven experience on farm work.
Experience on livestock and crop production
Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
2-3 years of relevant work experience in a similar environment.
