General Manager, Operations Business Development Manager

Location: Port-Harcourt, Rivers Role Summary

The GM operations is a very senior management and leadership position necessary for the overall operations of the company.
This position takes on independent responsibility for structuring, leading, and delivering customer solutions in line with organizational goals and projections. This is a key role that is central to the company’s activities and decision-making.
This position has the responsibility of coordinating a large, diverse and multi-project team as well as the accountability for all aspects of client expectations and satisfaction through consistent high levels of safety, quality service, and effective and efficient solution delivery.

Key Responsibilities Operations Management:

Oversees all operational activities to ensure high quality and optimized service delivery. Acts as the second or escalation point-of-contact and interface on all vessel operations matters.
Manages all the vessel charter contracts from on-hire to the point of off-hire.
Ensures the attainment of set operational efficiency and quality targets.
Optimizes fleet capacity utilization and standardization.
Investigates new opportunities for deriving value from marine services competencies.
Supervises Operations and Vessel budget preparation and required management reports on operational budget performance.
Controls the assigned budget and actively seek operational leverage to increase cost efficiency.
Carries-out operational budget analysis for management and ensures compliance with budget.
Reviews monthly operational budget results, implements monthly variance reporting as compared to budget and advice on expenditure trends.

Vessel Management:

Develops and progresses the new-build strategy and provides input to contract concept selection
Plans budgets and schedules for fleet maintenance and ensures strict compliance. Supervises the preparation of Vessels for Class and Flag State Surveys.
Enforces a zero-downtime preventive vessel maintenance policy regime.
Supervises all the company’s’ marine shipboard quality. safety and environmental procedures and policies to ensure compliance with ISM code and other international regulations and procedures.

Minimum Qualification

Strong academic background: Good first degree (preferably in Engineering / Actuarial Sciences). A Masters’ degree in Operations Management or related field and or MBA is an added advantage.
International exposure (work – including in a renowned multinational or education -studied abroad is mandatory).

Minimum Experience:

Minimum of 10-15 years related experience with at least 3 -5 years in senior leadership position in operations management.
Must show facility with executive-level consultations. This requires demonstrated skills in fact based analysis, presentation, interpersonal interaction, and excellent communication skills.
Must also excel in all areas of operations and business management, including project management, business analysis, problem solving, recommendation, consensus building, and people development.
Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills
Expertise in using ICT to drive business automation and efficiency
Works well under pressure with constantly changing priorities
