Job Summary

HR Leverage Africa is currently seeking a dynamic Canteen Manager to join its client’s team. The successful applicant will oversee all facets of the canteen as a self-sustaining business unit, encompassing day-to-day operations, workforce coordination, financial planning, expense management, procurement activities, performance reporting, and ensuring exceptional client satisfaction within a fast-paced food service setting.

Oversee a comprehensive range of critical duties, including the management of daily operations, ensuring adherence to established protocols, and fostering a productive work environment. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align objectives and streamline processes, while monitoring performance metrics to drive continuous improvement. Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality standards across all assigned functions. Serve as a primary point of contact for stakeholders, addressing inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner. Maintain meticulous records, prepare detailed reports, and present findings to senior leadership to support informed decision-making. Champion compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies, mitigating risks and upholding organizational integrity.

Responsibilities include managing the day-to-day operations of the canteen, encompassing food production, service delivery, and workflow coordination.

Responsible for overseeing all team members, including chefs, cooks, stewards, cleaners, and storekeepers, while coordinating and managing shift schedules to ensure seamless operations.

Oversee and regulate food expenses, manage budgetary allocations, minimize wastage, and track inventory utilization.

Oversee procurement operations and cultivate strategic partnerships with suppliers to ensure seamless acquisition of necessary goods and services.

Maintain rigorous adherence to HACCP protocols, sanitation guidelines, and food safety regulations to uphold the highest standards of quality and compliance.

Compile comprehensive operational reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis, incorporating detailed cost evaluations and performance metrics to assess efficiency and productivity.

Act as the primary point of contact, facilitating seamless communication and coordination between clients and canteen operations.

Maintain uniform service quality and uphold high standards of customer satisfaction.

Requirements

With a demonstrated track record spanning multiple years, you possess extensive hands-on experience in overseeing and managing operations within canteens, catering services, restaurants, or broader hospitality environments.

Highly skilled in developing and managing budgets, overseeing procurement processes, and fostering strategic vendor relationships.

A track record of successfully overseeing substantial teams within fast-paced, high-volume food service environments is essential.

Possesses in-depth expertise in food safety protocols and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) standards, ensuring strict adherence to regulatory requirements and best practices in food handling, preparation, and storage.

Familiarity with Microsoft Excel or other reporting tools is considered beneficial.

Candidates should possess prior experience in one or more of the following capacities: Canteen Manager, Restaurant Manager overseeing high-volume operations, Hospitality Operations Manager, or Catering Manager.
