Position Summary
The Agricultural Recovery Officer will spearhead the execution of FBI’s Agricultural Recovery Program within Benue State, ensuring seamless coordination and delivery. This position entails identifying and securing viable food recovery prospects from commercial farms, smallholder farmers, cooperatives, aggregators, and produce markets, followed by the strategic redistribution of recovered produce via FBI’s established network of beneficiary organizations across the state.
Oversee a comprehensive range of critical tasks, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and fostering operational excellence. Serve as the primary point of accountability for executing strategic initiatives, managing cross-functional teams, and driving performance metrics to meet established targets. Provide leadership in identifying process improvements, streamlining workflows, and implementing innovative solutions to enhance productivity and efficiency. Collaborate closely with stakeholders at all levels to facilitate seamless communication, resolve challenges, and uphold accountability across departments. Monitor progress through data-driven insights, adjusting strategies as needed to optimize outcomes and maintain competitive advantage.
Foster and sustain collaborations with agricultural producers, cooperative organizations, produce collection entities, markets, processing facilities, and relevant stakeholders to streamline the recovery of surplus food.
Oversee the retrieval, processing, and allocation of excess agricultural products while adhering to established organizational protocols and stringent food safety regulations.
Develop and maintain strong partnerships with beneficiary organizations while overseeing the allocation of food resources to facilitate effective distribution to at-risk populations.
Perform on-site evaluations, conduct monitoring visits, and gather data to enhance program execution and ensure accountability.
Maintain precise documentation of food recovery volumes, distribution quantities, beneficiaries served, and partner interactions.
Prepare regular reports and collaborate on program learning initiatives, impact assessments, and stakeholder engagement efforts.
Ensure adherence to organizational policies, safeguarding protocols, and donor stipulations.
Represent the program during stakeholder meetings, community engagements, and pertinent forums to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience is required. Proficiency in specific software tools or technical skills is essential. Candidates must demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and teamwork skills are necessary to collaborate effectively. Attention to detail and a commitment to meeting deadlines are critical. Experience in a similar role or industry is preferred. Familiarity with industry standards and best practices is a must.
A bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Food Science, Agribusiness, Agricultural Extension, Rural Development, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline is required.
Minimum of three years of professional experience in agriculture, food security initiatives, livelihoods enhancement, food systems analysis, supply chain operations, post-harvest handling techniques, or community development programming is required.
Professional candidates will have a demonstrated background in collaborating with agricultural producers, cooperatives, market systems, or food security programs. Such experience is strongly preferred.
Proficient knowledge of strategies for minimizing post-harvest losses, implementing effective food recovery frameworks, and optimizing agricultural value chains is essential.
Proven expertise in gathering, tracking, and analyzing data, coupled with a strong background in monitoring performance metrics and compiling comprehensive reports.
Proficient in analytical thinking and problem-solving, with a strong ability to interpret complex data and derive actionable insights. Demonstrated expertise in project management, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget constraints. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, facilitate effective collaboration across diverse teams and stakeholders.
