Responsibilities
The Rector is the Chief Academic and Administrative Officer of the Polytechnic as provided for in Kaduna State Edict No.3 of 1989 (subsequently amended in 2003).
In addition to the above, the Rector among other things should give academic leadership and play an active part in enhancing academic excellence and extending the services of the polytechnic to government and commercial sectors of the economy.
Therefore, the Candidate for the post must have a very high sense of dedication to duty, drive, resourcefulness and integrity.
Qualifications and Experience The candidate for the post is expected to posses the following academic, administrative, professional qualifications and personal qualities:
The applicant should demonstrate academic leadership with a minimum of a Masters degree in areas relevant to any of the programmes offered by the Polytechnic from a recognized institution of higher learning, plus a minimum of fifteen (15) years of postgraduate teaching, research, industrial and administrative experience preferably, five (5) years should be in the Polytechnic sector. An applicant with higher academic qualification will have an added advantage.
Must be a Chief Lecturer from any of the programmes run by the polytechnic with not less than five(5) years experience on that cadre.
Must provide evidence of membership of a recognized professional institution or registration with a regulatory body in Nigeria and evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals, as well as presentation of papers at educational conferences, seminars and/or workshops.
Candidate must not be more than 55 years at the time of assumption of duty.
Must be a person with initiative and vision for sustaining the accelerated pace of development of Technical & Vocational Education (TVE) in Nigeria.
Must be a fair-minded and dynamic individual with an impeccable reputation.
Must enjoy excellent physical and mental health (with evidence from Government Hospital); and
Must be proficient in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
Candidates with less than the minimum qualification and experience need not apply.
Terms of Appointment
The Appointment is for an initial period of Four (4) years and may be renewed for a second and final term of Four (4) years.
The Salary of the Rector is CONTISS 15.
