Ensure efficient and effective synergy with Departments/Branches for improved turnaround time
Duties & Responsibilities
Ensure cost consciousness and savings in all negotiations for settlement out of court or payment of Solicitors fees
Make recommendations to Management for matters to be resolved amicably, where applicable
Effective and proactive litigation portfolio management
Training of Branches on litigation process and how to keep documentary evidence (Ongoing process)
Engage the services of Solicitors who have clout and a good knowledge of the law and relationship with the Judiciary
Attending settlement meetings and court proceedings
Collation of monthly returns on pending litigation
Key Performance Indicators
Analyze cases and guide external Solicitors to ensure water-tight defense and prosecution for the Bank
Prepare case management strategies on case by case basis
Schedule quarterly brainstorming meetings with external solicitors for adoption of best strategies.
Making recommendations to Management for matters to be resolved amicably, where applicable.
Build internal and external communication network between external Solicitors, Management and staff
Ensuring effective communication channel between the external solicitors and the Bank.
Attending Court proceedings.
Employing alternative dispute resolution measures such as the Multi Door Court House.
Payment of negotiated professional fees as at when due
Participation in committee meetings as assigned
Job Requirements
Minimum education level – LL.B, B.L from a recognized University
Experience – 4 years’ Experience
Experience – 3 years minimum Experience working in a commercial bank.
Location – Enugu. Suitable candidate must be residing in Enugu or willing to relocate.
Key Competency Requirements Knowledge:
Accomplished lawyer with a strong background in corporate legal practice and proven ability to negotiate complex transaction and lead successful teams.
An analytical thinker, effective communicator together with a capacity to interpret and assimilate large volumes of complex information and construct cogent arguments.

Keen, conscientious, with a friendly disposition
An efficient and reliable person, can work alone or as part of a team.
Can work well under extreme pressure and remain calm with the ability to prioritize.
A proactive leader with ability to liaise with colleagues at all levels providing support and motivation.
