Job Objectives:
The Managing Director / Chief Operating Officer provides the required leadership and day to day management that ensures the company delivers on its promise to clients, professionally, profitably and to the satisfaction of key stakeholders including regulators and the public in general.
Ensures by working with the Technical that all projects are executed to the highest of technical standards and delivered within a reasonable time.
Working with the Sales and Relationship management team, ensures that the sales team is high performing and customers are highly satisfied
Ensures optimality in the finance function and the reporting function is comprehensive and compliant with best practises by working with the Finance team
Responsible for the efficient management of the enterprise functions within the company in collaboration with the Group Head, Business Support
Core Responsibilities
Ensures the efficient and smooth running of the operations of the company toward the achievement of all set goals and targets
Takes new projects originated by the office of the Executive Vice Chairman, plans and actions them to approved standards of quality, financial profitability and timelines as well as total promise to customers
Through the coordination of the key elements of the company, ensures the enhancement of the brand
Charts the course of action and ensure effective teaming at the executive level that guarantees the realisation of the mission and vision as well as shared values
Works with the Sales & Relationship Management teams to organise and build the sales team into a formidable machinery
Inspires team to consistently achieve and occasionally surpass company financial targets;
Ensures strict adherence to policies and procedures in the development of quality houses thereby promoting and strengthening the company’s brand;
Ensures adherence to corporate governance rules, compliance with approved accounting standards in the operations of the company
Cascades goals and targets from the EVC office to the relevant levels and manages performance of same within the company;
Ensures projects are adequately and optimally funded at all times, establishes medium term and short term plans that are derived from organisation strategy;
Sets and ensures that best practices/standards are entrenched in all functions of the company.
Qualifications & Experience:
A good first degree in Business Administration or related field
An MBA or MSc in Real Estate Management will be an added advantage
Membership of relevant professional bodies
Should possess at least 18 years post-graduation experience with at least 10 years in managerial position in construction or real estate development
Demonstrated proficiency in managing analytically rigorous initiatives and a track record in sales and leadership at a senior staff level
Proven track record of delivering results in an establishment of comparable size, scope and complexity
Required competencies:
Knowledge and understanding of real estate business including knowledge of finance, project origination and deal structuring as well as Technical Services
Proven track record of success in developing and providing growth strategies, sales processes, and marketing tactics improvements.
Hands-on leader, skilled at coordinating purchase, negotiations, and deals with potential customers and vendors.
Visionary with an entrepreneurial advantage in establishing and operating successful real estate business using consultative sales approach and relations-building skills.
Adept at identifying business requirements and developing practical solutions toward attainment of goals and objectives.
