Locations: Gbethromy, Lagos, Edo, River, Akwa Iborn States Job Summary The Salvation Army Nigeria is contracted to deliver the Community Awareness and Recovery (CAR) program in 5 Operational locations (Gbethromy, Lagos city – Lagos State, Benin city Edo State, Port Harcourt/Nkoro – River State and Oron – Akwa Iborn States), The project aims to prevent and reduce the impact of modern slavery and trafficking in Nigeria by achieving the following outcomes:
Increased awareness of, and changed attitudes and behaviours towards modern slavery and trafficking within local communities. Reduced re-trafficking of and increased quality of life for survivors of modern slavery. Enhanced understanding of modern slavery in-country and best practice responses required to prevent this crime.
The Community Awareness Recovery Field Officers are expected among others to keep records and case-files of survivors. Work with the Project Coordinator to finalise the program including policy, procedures and forms.
Work with Salvation Army Corps (Pastors) Officers Work with volunteers to deliver plan of changing the community through meetings, dialogue and tools.
Minimum Qualification Standard
The Personnel must have obtained University degree in social service and community development or related field and have an understanding of Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery.
Minimum of 2 years experience in community development project related to Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery.
Practicing Christian or willing to work in sympathy with the Christian ethos of The Salvation Army.
Age 25- 35years.
Job Circumstances:
Knowledge of participatory community work.
Ability to network with NGOs, Police, Government (local and state), private sector and Naptip in the state of operation.
Proven ability of community mobilisation and counselling.
Ability to write reports and case notes
Proven interpersonal skills and ability to build trust and communicate with people from a wide range of backgrounds
Occasionally required to travel to Lagos City for training
Required to live and work in the same Operational Project location and speak the indigenous language of the people including English language fluently.
