Job Description For the posts, the University seeks candidates with vision, proven academic distinction, managerial ability integrity and transparency in private and public life. The right candidates should also have ability to develop linkages with the external communities to support the emerging needs of the University command respect and engender cooperation and loyalty of staff and students of the University. All candidates must also be proficient in Information and Communication Technology (ICT). The Position

The Vice-Chancellor is the Chief Executive and Academic Officer of the University and ex-officio Chairman of the Senate and Member of the Council.
He/She shall be responsible to Council for general maintaining and promotion of the efficiency and good order of the University.
The Vice-Chancellor may exercise powers as may be necessary or expedient to ensure that the provisions of the Law and Statute, Ordinances and Regulations of the University are observed.

The Person

The Vice-Chancellor must possess a good honours degree from a recognized University.
He should be able to provide high quality leadership and administration that would drive the vision of the University and should be a proven manager of human and material resources.
The right candidate should be able to provide a shift from managerialism to entrepreneurship to create a boost and momentum that will make the university sustainably solvent. The candidate should:
Be a highly distinguished scholar of the rank of a Professor of not less than seven (7) years’ experience on the rank, with ability to provide academic and administrative leadership for the University;
Be able to command the respect of the national and international academic communities through his/her track records;
Possess a clear vision for the development of the University and the realization of its mission;
Demonstrate interpersonal and team building skills and the ability to strengthen the bridges between staff, students, other members of the University community and the University’s stake holders.
Exhibit entrepreneurial drive and ability to create revenue yielding programmes to attract funds and mobilize other resources for the development of the University;
Enjoy excellent physical and mental health; and
Have demonstrable ability to establish and maintain partnerships with local and international government and non-governmental agencies.

Terms and Condition of Service

The Vice-Chancellor shall hold office fora single tenure of five (5) years on such terms and conditions as may be specified in the letter of appointment.
The remuneration package is comparable to what obtains in Federal Universities and as approved from time to time by the Governing Council of the University.
Candidate will be entitled to the privileges, benefits and associated prerequisites as are obtainable in the Nigerian University System.
