Programme Officer – Gender and Inclusion Humanitarian/Emergency Programme Manager

(1143)About the Role.

The post holder will support Christian Aid’s governance and gender programme with the objective of ensuring that everyone, regardless of gender, age or other dimension of diversity is treated equitably and given fair and free opportunity to participate and have influence in activities, decisions and structures which affect their life; both at community and at the state level.
The role will support Christian Aid partners to push for the domestication of the Child Rights Act in Kaduna state and other identified northern states.
S/He will be responsible for supporting and managing Christian Aid partnerships and programmes (with support from Senior Programme Coordinator- Gender and inequality) as well as the effective disbursement of funds to Christian Aid partners working on the programme with particular interest on work regarding governance, Gender, Inequality, Inclusion and working with Faith Leaders/actors.
The role holder will contribute to the development of Christian Aid Gender policy and faith leaders’ strategy.
S/He will contribute to the representation and brand of Christian Aid in country, engage with and promote communications and fundraising, including institutional donors.
S/He will provide technical supports to partners in areas such as Gender inequality in voice & accountability interventions, health interventions, humanitarian interventions, inclusion, Gender-based violence and protections in humanitarian situations.
S/He will identify opportunities and strategies of working with faith actors especially in religious diverse settings.

About You

You must have a 1st degree in Social Science or development related field with at least 3years’ experience of working with local and international partner organisations.
You should have good knowledge of working with faith and community based institutions and civil society organizations in Nigeria with a good understanding of gender-sensitive programming.
It will be desirable for you to have a substantial knowledge of supporting programmes and programme staff in international/national and local agencies as well as strong writing, analytical and documentation skills.
You are knowledgeable about development issues and current affairs especially in Northern Nigeria.
You need to have experience in programme management and financial controls and procedures as well as direct experience of developing partners’ capacity.
You should have progressive experience (for not less than 3 years) in implementing gender programmes and a good understanding of advocacy, campaigning, lobbying and network building.
