Business Development Associates

Job Introduction
The Business Development team secures and develops partnerships that deliver more than 50% of BBC World Service global reach and impact. Based in cities around the world, this team provides the media market insights and business connections that make BBC journalism available to audiences via appropriate broadcast and digital platforms.

Role Responsibility 
As a Business Development Associate you will help maintain and enhance the BBC’s business activities in Nigeria. Working in a team of international media market experts, you will take responsibility for direct partner liaison, updating partners with information, co-ordinating marketing activity and driving new initiatives. 
As one of our partners’ closest BBC representatives, you will manage day-to-day queries and programme information quickly and effectively. Your ingenuity and customer focus will help BBC partners find new ways to derive value from our content. You will be effective in invoicing, debt collection and related account management functions. 
Your deep understanding of the Nigerian media market will help the BBC identify opportunities to exploit, track trends and note the activities of competitors. Your insights and recommendations will inform the BBC’s business development strategy which you will help to implement in Nigeria. 

The Ideal Candidate 
With considerable experience of working in sales and marketing, business development and/or editorial media you will demonstrate a deep and current knowledge of Nigeria’s media markets. 
You will be experienced in sales techniques including negotiating, influencing and networking skills with strong contacts in the broadcasting, publishing and telecom sectors. You will approach challenges with confidence and creativity and you will hit measurable targets. 
Your attention to detail will extend to the daily management of information, finance and delivery systems. You will demonstrate a good knowledge of the relevant BBC output. 
Your presentation, interpersonal and language skills will enable you to liaise with authority and charm both within the BBC and with outside organisations.
You will be proficient in written and spoken English and either Yoruba or Igbo, and speak Pidgin.
