You will oversee the ongoing Maintenance and Repair (M&R) operations for assigned vessels, ensuring adherence to established timelines and budget constraints to uphold technical reliability and optimize fleet utilization.
You will be tasked with executing a comprehensive range of duties, including managing daily operations, overseeing project timelines, ensuring compliance with company policies, and fostering collaboration across departments. Coordinate and manage routine maintenance operations—primarily preventive in nature—aboard vessels to uphold operational reliability and minimize the risk of downtime or off-hire periods.
Oversee, mentor, and train chief engineers aboard the vessels to guarantee that technical operations onboard align with established company standards.
Perform repairs while overseeing crew members and subcontractors to ensure alignment with established schedules, budgets, and quality benchmarks.
Oversee the precise distribution of expenses associated with vessel repairs, maintenance, dry-docking, damages, and modifications.
Ensures vessel crews are properly instructed and supervised to uphold company standards, adhering to established guidelines and specifications throughout all operations.
Demonstrates a strong commitment to fostering a culture of Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality (SHE) awareness while rigorously overseeing performance metrics to uphold stringent safety standards and promote secure work practices. Sets a leading example through personal adherence to these principles.
I engage with regulatory bodies and key stakeholders, including Classification Societies and Flag State authorities, to address matters concerning the technical integrity of vessels while fostering collaborative and positive relationships with all parties involved.
To qualify for the role of Technical Superintendent in Nigeria, you must possess:
Seeking candidates with a proven track record in technical leadership, having held roles such as Technical Superintendent or Technical Manager within comparable industries or organizational settings.
A minimum of higher secondary vocational education in mechanical engineering, naval architecture, or a comparable field is required.
Preferred candidates will have prior experience as a chief engineer aboard offshore support vessels.
Minimum seven years of proven experience in a technical superintendent, port engineer, or technical management role is required.
Proficient in both spoken and written English, with a strong command of the language.

Extra information
As a valued member of AfrikDelta Marine Ltd’s Fleet Management Department—an operational unit under the direct oversight of Smit Lamarck—you will collaborate with a team of roughly 10 professionals. This position entails reporting directly to the Regional Fleet Manager.
You will be based in One, Port Harcourt, with an 8/8-week rotational schedule and occasional travel requirements.
The role of Technical Superintendent is a full-time position, with working hours subject to adjustment based on operational needs.
