Chief Financial Officer

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Directly supporting the CEO with respect to the execution of engagements/ transactions within finance function, which will include preparation of financial information and data for review by the CEO
Establish finance operational strategies by evaluating trends; establishing critical measurements;  productivity, quality, and customer-service strategies; designing systems; accumulating resources; resolving problems; implementing change
Develop financial processes that proactively and strategically establish the highest levels of benchmarks and performance for the total organization in cooperation with the executive team and field operations
Contributing to the effective corporate management of the organization, including strategy implementation, cross organizational issues, integrated business and resource planning, risk management and performance management
Leading development of a medium term financial strategy and the annual budgeting process to ensure financial balance and a monitoring process to ensure its delivery
Train the finance unit and other staff on raising awareness and knowledge of financial management matters
Participate in developing new business, specifically: assist the CEO and COO in identifying new funding opportunities, the drafting of prospective programmatic budgets, and determining cost effectiveness of prospective service delivery
Provide the Chief Operating Officer (COO) with an operating budget
Work with the COO to ensure programmatic success through cost analysis support, and compliance with all contractual and programmatic requirements. This includes:

Interpreting legislative and programmatic rules and regulations to ensure compliance with all federal, state, local and contractual guidelines
Ensuring that all government regulations and requirements are disseminated to appropriate personnel
Monitoring compliance

Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring a disaster recovery plan is in place
Optimize the handling of bank and deposit relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash position
Provide oversight for the management of the organization’s physical infrastructure and assets including utilities, facilities, buildings and system maintenance
Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism that includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs
Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and ensure compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting

Skills and Requirements

Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses
Creative with experience funding activities in a way that covers both costs and generates operating margins
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong attention to detail and strong analytical ability
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Experience in communicating key data effectively, including presentations to senior management, the board or other outside partners/influencers/clients
Address and deal effectively with difficult situations
Analytic and decisive with the ability to prioritize and multitask
A hands-on manager with a high level of integrity and ethics
Personable team player, with the ability to gain the confidence and trust of colleagues 

Experience

5 – 10 years in a progressively responsible financial leadership role
B.Sc in Accounting or Finance
A professional accounting qualification such as ACCA or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized professional body.
