MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Teaching and Learning • Monitor and evaluate teaching and learning and the standards of students’ achievement and set targets for improvement. • Maintain an environment and a code of behavior to promote and secure effective learning and good behavior. • Determine, organize, implement and monitor the curriculum and ensure that it: • meets statutory requirements • is relevant to the needs of all students • Maintain an effective partnership with parents to support and improve students’ achievement and personal development. • To teach students in the school to such an extent as may be appropriate. Leadership • Participate as an active member of the Primary School Team. • Interview parents or attend interviews conducted by teachers, as required. • Lead teaching teams in the development of curriculum programs using the Nigerian and British frameworks. • Oversee and ensure that staff members participate in professional development programs. • Liaise with the Head School Administrator and Head Teacher and attend meetings of as necessary. • Provide professional leadership and management of staff. • Lead staff in the ongoing development of rigorous classroom practice. • Set an example of excellent teaching and professionalism to all staff. • Supervise professional and other staff, and monitor the teaching performance of teachers. • Motivate parents and staff, develop good rapport with colleagues, students and the community and work effectively in a team situation. Administration • In collaboration with the School Administrator and Head Teacher , compile curriculum articles for School publications and newsletters; and • Prepare and chair staff curriculum meetings, as required. • Establish and maintain a system and set of procedures for the administration of curriculum, ensuring programs meet Nigerian and British requirements. • Set up systems for communication and collaboration among all staff members involved in developing and implementing the curriculum. • Assist teams or individuals in developing, documenting and analysing student learning. • Ensure that all staff are kept informed of curriculum matters. • Coordinate orientation programs and parent information sessions as required. • Co-ordinate the monitoring of the Primary School curriculum – ie: • the regular monitoring of teaching methods, lesson plans; • the regular monitoring of student work; • Ensure the raising and discussion of curriculum issues in Year Level and staff meeting,
