Reporting to the Executive Director, the Chief Operating Officer is charged with running AIMP projects focused on nation building. The Chief Operating Officer is responsible for ensuring that change projects including but not limited to the strategic sub-projects on Engagement, Training, Sustainability and Administration are successfully implemented with the specified results obtained, to the required quality standard within specific time and cost. The Chief Operating Officer is responsible for the day to day running of the National Secretariat including managing all AiMP staff at the Secretariat and Lagos office and State Coordinators.Functions:• Facilitate project planning including the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables; develop full scale project plans• Undertake research, develop proposals, conduct or oversee feasibility studies, and prepare reports to support strategic decision making• Drive the successful implementation of projects; monitor and control projects• Provide direction and support to project team• Timely preparation and submission of periodic progress and other reports• Budgeting, resource planning, mobilization and management• Responsible for liaison with various strategic partners, agencies and networks; represent the project at meetings of parties to the project• Build and manage relationships, networks and partnerships to support projects and achieve set goals• Undertake or drive marketing and fundraising activities• Monitor and manage risks; contingency planning• Conduct project evaluation and results assessment• Project quality assuranceQualifications :
Requirements:• An MBA or a Masters degree in Public Administration, International Relations or a relevant subject area• Knowledge of project management techniques and tools. Project management certification would be an added advantage• Minimum of five years experience in project management including project planning, fundraising and implementation• Prior experience in startup projects, NGOs and development organizations/initiatives• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and supporting project management software• Excellent oral and written communication skills• Strong relationship management skillsKey Competencies:• Project management• Leadership and organization• Strategic planning and management• People and relationship management• Critical thinking and problem solving• Communication• Teamwork
