Job Summary:
The Structural/Site Engineer is tasked with designing, evaluating, and overseeing the structural components of construction projects while also managing daily site operations to ensure compliance with design specifications, quality benchmarks, and safety protocols. This position involves supervising personnel and subcontractors, allocating resources efficiently, addressing on-site challenges, and facilitating communication between the project manager and field teams to uphold project timelines and budgetary constraints.
Oversee and execute a range of critical tasks, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and maintaining high standards of efficiency. Lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive project completion, troubleshoot challenges, and implement solutions that enhance productivity. Develop and monitor workflows, processes, and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and optimize operational effectiveness. Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and documentation to keep stakeholders informed of progress, risks, and strategic initiatives.
Prepare comprehensive structural drawings with proficiency in AutoCAD, Refit, or comparable drafting software.
Transform architectural concepts into detailed structural blueprints by analyzing design specifications and applying engineering principles to create precise, constructible drawings.
Ensure adherence to local building codes, safety regulations, and structural standards. Work closely with architects, MEP engineers, and other consultants to create cohesive, integrated designs.
Oversee on-site construction operations to guarantee strict compliance with design specifications and established safety protocols.
Collaborate effectively with subcontractors, laborers, and suppliers to maintain seamless progression through each phase of the project.
Monitor the advancement of projects and compile comprehensive daily and weekly reports detailing site activities and developments.
Consultants, subcontractors, and trades people are engaged collaboratively to uphold project timelines, address technical challenges, and enhance operational efficiency.
Perform comprehensive site inspections and stringent quality control assessments to confirm structural integrity and regulatory compliance.
Deliver expert technical counsel to field teams and address engineering-related challenges with precision.
Maintain strict adherence to all applicable local building codes, HSE standards, and regulatory requirements throughout all operations.
Technical Skills Required:
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++ is essential for this role. Candidates should possess strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms, along with experience in software development methodologies. Familiarity with databases, including SQL and NoSQL, as well as cloud platforms like AWS or Azure, is highly advantageous. Additionally, experience with version control systems such as Git and proficiency in debugging and troubleshooting are necessary. Understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines is preferred.
Demonstrated expertise in structural design software, including but not limited to STABS, STAND Pro, SAFE, SAP2000, and ProtaStructure, or comparable tools, is required.
Requires proficiency in AutoCAD and specialized expertise in structural detailing.
Proficiency in Refit, Civil 3D, or other BIM software applications is highly desirable.
Demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge of engineering codes, industry standards, and applicable construction regulations.
Proficient in creating and analyzing technical drawings, specifications, and engineering reports.

Education: A relevant bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field is required for this position, with candidates ideally holding degrees in education, psychology, or a closely aligned discipline. Equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of formal education, provided it meets the specified criteria. Proven expertise in curriculum development, instructional strategies, and educational assessment is essential, along with a solid foundation in educational theory and best practices.
A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, supplemented by at least three years of relevant experience in software development or IT support. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++ is essential, along with a strong grasp of database management systems and cloud computing platforms. Experience with Agile methodologies, version control systems, and DevOps practices is highly desirable. Excellent problem-solving abilities, effective communication skills, and a collaborative mindset are required to thrive in a dynamic team environment. Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and compliance standards is a plus.
Requires a minimum of five to seven years of hands-on experience in structural design and on-site supervision roles.
Membership or registration with pertinent professional organizations, including the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (CORE) or the Nigerian Society of Engineers (USE), is required.
Proven expertise in executing projects across residential, commercial, and infrastructure sectors, demonstrating adaptability and comprehensive project management skills.
