To ensure the successful completion of drilling, completion, and work-over operations—including Drilling Fluids engineering and products, Cementing, Waste Management (rig-site cuttings treatment, bulk cuttings transfer, onshore treatment, and disposal)—while adhering to industry codes of practice, safety standards, and environmental regulations, all operations must be executed with a focus on cost efficiency and timely delivery.

Oversee the execution of key organizational tasks, ensuring adherence to established protocols and timelines. Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance operational efficiency and achieve departmental objectives. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align goals and foster a cohesive work environment. Ensure drilling, completion, and work-over operations are executed successfully while adhering to industry best practices, safety protocols, and environmental regulations, and strive to minimize costs and lead times.

Verify that all personnel, equipment, and services consistently meet operational standards and requirements.

Activities:

Ensure the diligent execution and oversight of all fluids-related operations, encompassing drilling fluids engineering and associated products, cementing procedures, as well as waste management activities such as rig site cuttings treatment, bulk cuttings transfer, onshore cuttings’ treatment, and disposal.

Interface with the rig contractor’s personnel to verify that all equipment and services align with operational requirements, fostering seamless collaboration to uphold project objectives.

Ensure that all fluid-related services—specifically mud and cement operations—are carried out in strict accordance with the approved programs developed by the Onshore Fluids Superintendent.

Ensure contractors comply with COMPANY’s established reference standards and fully adhere to all COMPANY RULES.

Verify rig-site reports are accurately completed and submitted without delay.

Facilitate seamless coordination by serving as COMPANY’s primary liaison for all fluid-related activities conducted at the rig-site.

Execute fluids, cement, solids control, and waste management services at the rig-site with meticulous follow-up to ensure seamless operations.

Oversee key fluid-related operations at the rig site, including cementing, mud displacements, completions, and specialized testing procedures.

Ensure Contractor representatives at the rig site fully comply with all specified programs and jobs without exception.

Act as an intermediary between the Onshore Fluids Superintendent and representatives from the Contractor team.

Ensure each phase of work is completed accurately and promptly, followed by the submission of post-job reports.

Ensure the implementation of service quality enhancement initiatives at the rig site through the on-site representatives of the contractor.

Engage actively in enhancing the efficiency of service contractors’ operations while systematically assessing their performance standards.

Familiarity with pertinent Environmental and Regulatory guidelines, as outlined by the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) in the GASPING document and the Federal Ministry of Environment (MEN), is essential.

Anticipate operational requirements in collaboration with rig-site Contractor Engineers, and submit requisitions via the Onshore Fluids Superintendent.

Play a key role in establishing operational frameworks and implementing processes directly at the rig site.

Deliver services in strict adherence to Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) standards, ensuring compliance with best practices throughout all operations.

Partner with the Onshore Fluids Superintendent to optimize logistics coordination, ensuring timely availability of supply boats and accurate product quantities.

Environmental discharge standards are strictly governed by the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), as outlined in the Environmental Guidelines and Standards for the Petroleum Industry in Nigeria (GASPING), as well as by the Federal Ministry of Environment (MEN).

High Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) risks linked to fluids engineering equipment include noise pollution and vibrations emanating from mud pumps, cement units, shale shakers, and similar machinery, as well as potential exposure to oil-based mud vapors.

Operations are managed through seamless collaboration between the onshore base and the rig site, ensuring efficient and coordinated execution of all activities.

Accountabilities:

Ensure the seamless continuation of fluid operations, cementing processes, and the treatment of discharges.

Conduct thorough cost tracking and monitoring to maintain accurate financial records and adherence to budgetary guidelines throughout the project lifecycle.

Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and regulatory frameworks to maintain a secure work environment.

Proactively identify requirements and efficiently coordinate the procurement process.

Develop comprehensive operating procedures to ensure standardized and efficient workflow execution. Establish clear, step-by-step guidelines that detail each process within the operational framework, ensuring consistency and adherence to best practices. These procedures should be meticulously documented and regularly reviewed to maintain accuracy and relevance. Additionally, train staff on proper implementation to uphold quality standards and operational integrity.

Assist in enhancing technical proficiencies and specialized knowledge.

Establish and implement operational frameworks at the rig site to ensure efficient and structured workflows. Develop and maintain systems that support daily activities, compliance with safety standards, and adherence to operational protocols. Coordinate with field personnel to align resources, processes, and reporting mechanisms for seamless site operations.
