This role is pivotal in advancing missionaries’ core purpose: to invite others to come unto Christ by guiding them in receiving the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end. Serving as an entry-level support contributor, the Teacher assists in training missionaries across diverse settings and subjects. Instructional areas may encompass language proficiency, gospel doctrine, Preach My Gospel training, and skill development for missionary work. Teachers provide guidance to both junior and senior missionaries, whether before their MTC assignment, during their training at the MTC, or after their departure. They adhere to a structured curriculum and may be chosen to engage in pilot programs and special initiatives.

Oversee a range of duties encompassing strategic planning, execution, and monitoring to ensure alignment with organizational goals. Manage teams and resources efficiently to deliver high-quality results within specified timelines. Collaborate with cross-functional departments to foster innovation and streamline processes. Monitor performance metrics and implement corrective actions as needed. Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships to enhance communication and project success. Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies throughout all operations.

The position reports to a trainer or supervisor within the Training department.

Delivers guidance, mentorship, and constructive feedback to missionaries across various training formats, including individualized coaching sessions, small group discussions, large-scale workshops, and oversight of Canvas participation and discussion board activities.

Plans and develops lessons in accordance with the prescribed curriculum while coordinating with a partner teacher (if applicable) to address the missionary’s requirements.

Oversees the strategic planning and financial accountability for missionary learning initiatives.

Executes directives and guidance provided by the Teacher Trainer/Supervisor, the Manager of Training, and the Senior Manager of Training.

Attends weekly training sessions and contributes actively in co-teacher collaboration meetings.

Collaborates with area leadership to facilitate coordination with mission and Missionary Department leadership, as required.

Provides updates to leadership regarding the status and advancements of assigned projects.

Coaches provide mentorship to missionaries, guiding them through preparation phases, practice sessions, and live instructional deliveries to ensure effective skill development and performance.

Proficiency assessments for missionaries and teacher applicants in the target language may be among the responsibilities assigned.

Might involve assuming extra responsibilities as an Actor by portraying an individual who is not a member and seeks to understand more about The Church of Jesus Christ.

May assume supplementary duties as a Training Area Assistant whenever operational hours permit.

The role may involve additional short-term responsibilities at the MTC, such as supporting the Mission Leadership Seminar.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required. Minimum of five years of professional experience in software development is necessary. Expertise in Java, Python, and C++ is essential. Demonstrated proficiency in system architecture and cloud services like AWS or Azure is preferred. Strong problem-solving abilities and excellent communication skills are vital. Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and version control systems such as Git is required.

Required:

Returned from missionary service is a prerequisite for this position.

Proficiency in a designated second language is essential for roles focused on language instruction.
