Corridor Activation for the GTC Nigeria Gambia Ugric Export Initiative involves spearheading strategic development and operational execution to enhance agricultural trade corridors between Nigeria and Gambia. This role demands a deep understanding of agricultural export processes, logistics coordination, and cross-border regulatory frameworks. Responsibilities include fostering partnerships with key stakeholders, optimizing supply chain efficiencies, and ensuring compliance with international trade standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, proficiency in trade facilitation, and the ability to navigate complex regulatory environments to drive sustainable growth in agricultural exports.

Develop and implement a commission cold storage infrastructure at the Banjul port, ensuring a minimum storage capacity of 500 metric tons.

Secure binding offtake agreements in Lagos, including at least one contract with a wholesale fish importer, prior to the initial shipment.

Execute the initial containerized export shipment, transporting goods from Banjul to Lagos and vice versa, which serves as the critical milestone validating the entire model.

Responsible for managing the selection of contractors, establishing commissioning timelines, and ensuring operational readiness.

Responsible for overseeing the establishment, implementation, and adherence to regulatory frameworks and compliance standards within the organization, this role ensures alignment with legal obligations and industry best practices. Develops and maintains policies, procedures, and controls to mitigate risks and uphold organizational integrity. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to monitor changes in regulations, assess their potential impact, and implement necessary adjustments. Conducts audits and assessments to verify compliance, identify gaps, and recommend corrective actions. Provides guidance and training to employees and management on compliance requirements and ethical standards.

Ensure impeccable regulatory compliance across both jurisdictions, namely Nigeria and The Gambia. The Chief Operating Officer (COO) upholds adherence to all relevant standards and certifications, including those governed by the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON), Gambia Revenue Authority, as well as phytosanitary certification, with a strict focus on eliminating any compliance discrepancies.

Assist the Compliance & Licensing Officer in overseeing CBN FX regulations, fulfilling FCC reporting obligations, and ensuring adherence to Gambia Central Bank requirements for the activation of corridor financial services.

Requirements

Holders of a degree in Agricultural Economics, coupled with an M.Sc. in Agribusiness, are encouraged to apply. A minimum of ten years’ experience in cross-continental trade across Africa is essential for consideration.

Professional Experience in managing agricultural exports within West Africa is an essential prerequisite for this role.

Proven expertise in customs regulations governing export activities, agribusiness operations, or structured trade finance, complemented by a minimum of two years of hands-on profit-and-loss accountability experience.

Demonstrated expertise in managing agricultural export operations across corridors or multiple countries is required.
