Job Summary
This role is for an Inventory Manager in a construction projects, where you will be responsible to ensure efficient management of all materials, tools, and equipment, from tracking stock levels and ordering supplies to maintaining a well-organized storage area, ultimately supporting smooth project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Management:
Tracking and Control: Accurately track and manage all materials, equipment, and supplies used on construction projects.
Stock Levels: Monitor inventory levels to ensure sufficient materials are available while avoiding overstocking or shortages.
Physical Inventory: Conduct regular physical inventory counts to verify accuracy of records.
Software Usage: Utilize inventory management software to track, record, and analyze inventory data.
Data Analysis: Analyze inventory data to identify trends, forecast needs, and optimize inventory levels.
Supplier Management:
Sourcing and Negotiation: Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiate contracts, and secure favorable pricing and delivery terms.
Relationship Building: Maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure timely and reliable deliveries.
Performance Monitoring: Monitor supplier performance and address any issues related to quality or delivery.
Logistics and Storage:
Storage Management: Oversee storage facilities, ensuring materials are stored properly and efficiently.
Order Management: Place orders for materials and equipment, ensuring timely delivery to the construction site.
Coordination: Coordinate with project managers and site supervisors to ensure materials are available when needed.
Reporting and Communication:
Reporting: Prepare regular reports on inventory levels, costs, and performance.
Communication: Communicate inventory status and potential issues to relevant stakeholders.
Other Responsibilities:
Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and safety standards.
Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance inventory management efficiency.
Team Leadership: Supervise and train inventory staff, if applicable.
Skills and Qualifications:
Strong organizational skills: Essential for managing large quantities of materials and equipment.
Attention to detail: Accuracy in tracking inventory is crucial.
Problem-solving skills: Ability to identify and resolve inventory-related issues.
Communication skills: Ability to communicate effectively with suppliers, project managers, and site supervisors.
Knowledge of inventory management software: Familiarity with industry-standard software is a plus.
Experience in construction or related industries: Background in construction or material management is beneficial.
Negotiation skills: Ability to negotiate favorable terms with suppliers.
