Legal Operations Lead

Job Summary :

The Legal Operations Lead will assist with overseeing and co-ordinating the activities of the legal team, ensuring that all legal matters are handled efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Supervision : Assist in supervising a team of lawyers, paralegals, and other legal support staff providing guidance and support as needed.
Operational Management: Develop and implement processes and procedures to optimize legal operations.
Quality Control : Review and ensure the quality of legal work produced by the team, including contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
Risk Management : Identify and mitigate legal risks associated with business operations.
Compliance : Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Policy Development and Implementation : Assist with developing and implementing relevant policies
Contract Drafting and Negotiation : Draft and negotiate complex contracts
Budgeting and Financial Management : Assist in managing the legal budget, tracking expenses, and ensuring cost-effective delivery of legal services.
Technology and Innovation: Identify and implement technology solutions to enhance legal operations, such as contract management systems
Training and Development : Assist with providing training and development opportunities to team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.

Requirements :

Education :

Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B) and Qualifying Certification – Barrister at Law (BL). Masters in Law is an added advantage

Professional Certification:

Relevant professional certifications in compliance, legal operations, contract management, corporate governance, etc. is an added advantage.

Experience :

10-12 years of experience in a legal role, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role and 3 years as an in-house counsel.

Skills :

Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage and motivate a team.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Knowledge :

Strong knowledge of Nigerian law and regulations.
Familiarity with industry standards and best practices.
