Description
The Materials Management Lead shall work with relevant business units to oversee storage, and distribution of materials within the organization. This ensures that materials are available when needed, inventory levels are optimized, and costs are controlled.
The Materials Management Lead will coordinate with various departments to forecast demand and implement efficient inventory management practices.
Develop and implement materials management strategies, policies, and procedures to optimize inventory control, procurement, and distribution processes.
Plan future ordering based on current stocks, existing purchase orders and current lead times.
Ensure materials received comply with applicable technical specifications and documentation.
Develop a counting schedule and lead cycle counting of all materials at the various storage sites based on the developed and approved cycle counting schedule. Reconcile all variances with explanations and provide recommendations for improvement of material control.
Develop accuracy KPIs and ensure compliance with inventory accuracy KPIs.
Advise COMPANY’s Contract Owners & C&P Manager of surplus, unallocated, obsolete and aged inventory and develop of methods to optimize the inventory through efficient replenishments, standardization, inspection of old stocks and surplus and eventual disposal (where necessary).
Develop disposal procedures.
Manage all company warehouses and Storage spaces.
Maintain regular contact with external storage locations/facilities
Ensure during site visits that all material movements comprising receipts, transfers and issues of COMPANY owned material are immediately notified by the contractor, have full supporting documentation and are recorded in COMPANY’s inventory system.
Maintain complete visibility on COMPANY inventories by identifying material that has not been catalogued and catalogue same.
Generate regular reports showing the status of the inventory, values, movements and change in value over periods.
Promote, follow, update and develop procedures to maintain the highest safety, security, efficiency and effectiveness throughout any materials management operations.
Implement in conjunction with the Quality team, QA/QC procedures for materials that may require technical inspection.
Optimize yard/storage space utilization.
Participate in all HSSE initiatives and training.
Performs all other related job functions as required.
Requirements
BSc Degree in Engineering, Business Administration and Management or with an emphasis on Supply Chain and Operations Management.
Minimum fifteen (15) years’ experience in materials/warehouse management preferably in the Oil and Gas or Energy industries of which a minimum of 5 years must be at a supervisory level.
Advanced knowledge of Materials Management or Inventory Control.
Advanced knowledge in Warehousing Management.
Advanced knowledge in Hazardous Material Management and spill containment mitigation tasks.
Experience in performing physical inventory counts.
Excellent communication, teamwork and leadership skills.
Proficient in Computer Applications including word processing and spreadsheet applications (MS Word & Excel).
An acceptable combination of academic qualifications and work experience may be considered in lieu of the specified requirements.
Relevant knowledge and skills gained in a procurement, stocking, inventory, materials management software environment.
