Anesthetist

Key Responsibilities

Administer anesthesia and monitor patients before, during, and after surgical procedures. Assess patients’ medical history to determine the most appropriate anesthetic plan.
Manage pain relief through various anesthetic techniques, including general, regional, and local anesthesia. Monitor vital signs and anesthesia depth, making necessary adjustments to ensure patient safety.
Collaborate with surgeons, ICU physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals for seamless perioperative and critical care.
Provide emergency resuscitation, airway management, and advanced life support when necessary. Oversee anesthetic care for critically ill patients in the ICU, including ventilator management and sedation protocols.
Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with hospital policies and patient safety guidelines. Educate patients on anesthetic procedures, risks, and post-operative recovery. Stay updated on advancements in anesthesia, pain management, and critical care medicine.

Requirements

Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent) with a specialization in Anesthesia.
Certification in Anesthesia & Critical Care (or equivalent training in intensive care medicine).
Valid license to practice in Nigeria.
Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in anesthesia administration and critical care settings.
Strong expertise in pain management, airway control, and intensive care. Ability to respond effectively to emergencies and make quick, informed decisions.
Excellent teamwork and communication skills for working in high-pressure environments.
Must have Critical Care Training
