Legal Officer

Job Summary

The Legal Officer will be responsible for overseeing the company’s legal affairs, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, drafting and reviewing contracts, and providing legal support across various departments. 
The role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements.
Provide legal guidance on corporate governance, business policies, and risk management.
Conduct legal research to stay updated on relevant laws and industry regulations.
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and legal documents.
Identify potential legal risks in contracts and suggest necessary modifications.
Maintain a repository of all legal documents and ensure timely renewals.
Manage and coordinate company litigation matters.
Liaise with external legal counsel on disputes, court cases, and regulatory proceedings.
Represent the company in legal proceedings when required.
Ensure compliance with corporate laws, including company registrations and filings.
Handle intellectual property matters, including trademarks and copyrights.
Assist in drafting company policies and internal legal guidelines.
Collaborate with internal departments to provide legal support.
Engage with external regulatory bodies, legal firms, and government agencies when required.
Conduct legal awareness training for employees on compliance matters.

Key Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B); Call to Bar (B.L) is required.
A master’s degree or additional certifications (e.g., Company Secretarial Practice, Arbitration) is an added advantage.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in a corporate or commercial environment.

Strong knowledge of corporate, commercial, and labor laws.
Excellent contract drafting and negotiation skills.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
High ethical standards and attention to detail.
Experience in regulatory compliance and risk management.
