Job Role
A School Maintenance Officer is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of a school’s physical facilities, including buildings, grounds, and equipment.
Responsibilities:
Inspect school buildings and grounds regularly to identify maintenance needs
Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs, repairing plumbing, and painting
Coordinate with contractors and vendors to schedule repairs and maintenance work
Conduct regular inspections of fire safety equipment and systems, such as fire alarms
Respond to emergency maintenance requests, such as power outages
Maintain an inventory of supplies and equipment necessary for maintenance work
Collaborate with other school staff, such as administrators and teachers, to ensure that maintenance work does not disrupt educational activities
Organize and perform small construction improvement projects as directed (eg.paths, basic carpentry and concrete work as required)
Assist and coordinate maintenance, both reactive and proactive, for all facilities and equipment.
Ensure appropriate registration and maintenance of all equipment and machinery.
Co-ordinate all scheduled compliance works (eg. tag and test of equipment, emergency lighting).
Assist with the running of events as required, particularly with setup and pack-down of equipment as directed by the school management.
Ability to handle electrical, plumbing and carpentry issues
Supervise cleaners and ensure the facility is always clean
Supervise the gardeners and ensure the flowers and field are neat and trimmed properly

Requirements and Qualifications:
Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field
Minimum of 5 years of working experience in a similar role
Proven ability to work unsupervised, meet deadlines and set priorities.
Demonstrate professionalism and confidentiality appropriately.
Safe use of a range of machinery and equipment.
Proactive mindset and ability to implement routines to ensure ongoing upkeep of facilities
Detailed knowledge of maintenance and storage of motorized equipment such as generators.
Possess excellent leadership, organizational and problem-solving skills
Knowledgeable about safety regulations and possess.
Ability to supervise a team of support staff
Ability to accept the role immediately.
