The World Literacy Foundation is seeking a dedicated professional to join their team. Candidates must possess a strong commitment to advancing literacy initiatives and a proven track record in project management. Responsibilities include developing and implementing literacy programs, collaborating with stakeholders, and ensuring program efficacy through monitoring and evaluation. The ideal candidate will have experience in education, nonprofit management, or a related field, along with exceptional communication and organizational skills. Fluency in English is required, and additional language proficiency is a plus.

The Role

The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with our UK-based team to uncover potential funding avenues, craft persuasive grant proposals, perform in-depth donor analysis, and oversee grant pipelines. Demonstrated proficiency in written English, meticulous attention to detail, advanced research skills, and a talent for crafting compelling narratives to engage funders are essential for this position.

Oversee a comprehensive range of critical duties, including managing day-to-day operations, implementing strategic initiatives, and ensuring adherence to company policies and industry regulations. Direct and mentor teams to optimize productivity and foster a collaborative work environment, prioritizing clear communication and accountability. Develop and execute project plans, monitor progress, and allocate resources efficiently to meet established deadlines and objectives. Collaborate with cross-functional departments to align goals, resolve challenges, and drive continuous improvement across all business functions. Analyze performance metrics, identify trends, and present actionable insights to senior leadership to inform data-driven decision-making. Maintain stringent compliance with safety protocols and quality standards while upholding ethical business practices.

Research and pursue potential grant opportunities sourced from UK-based trusts, foundations, charities, corporate foundations, and international funding bodies.

Compose and deliver well-crafted grant applications, proposals, concept notes, letters of inquiry, and funding requests to secure financial support.

Compose and disseminate donor outreach correspondence, including letters and fundraising emails.

Develop and sustain a dynamic grants pipeline while maintaining a comprehensive database of funding opportunities.

Monitor grant deadlines, submissions, donor correspondence, and results systematically to ensure compliance and accountability throughout the grant lifecycle.

Perform comprehensive prospect research focused on trusts, foundations, philanthropists, and grant-making organizations.

Work collaboratively with the UK team to compile essential project details, including budgets, outcomes, and measurable impact data.

Maintain precise documentation and reporting mechanisms with Microsoft 365 and Excel.

Compile weekly activity reports and participate in weekly team meetings.

Diligently seek out innovative funding avenues and potential donors to expand financial resources.

Track advancement in relation to fundraising goals and performance indicators to ensure alignment with established targets.

We seek candidates who meet the following key qualifications: a minimum of five years of experience in a similar role, proficiency in project management software, and strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Additionally, applicants must possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. A bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or a related field is required, along with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with industry regulations and compliance standards is also essential.

A minimum of three years of experience in grant writing, fundraising, donor research, proposal development, or a comparable position is required.

Possesses a comprehensive knowledge of grant funding mechanisms within the UK, including trusts, foundations, and charitable sources.
