The World Literacy Foundation, founded in 2013, is a global organization committed to advancing literacy and education as tools for community empowerment. Operating in Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Kenya, Colombia, and Uganda, the foundation provides children and young people with essential resources, including books, literacy materials, and educational tools. Our mission is rooted in the belief that every child, irrespective of location, deserves the opportunity to develop literacy skills that unlock potential and foster long-term success. Education serves as the foundation for brighter futures, and we are dedicated to ensuring that children worldwide have the tools they need to thrive.
Since 2014, the foundation has led the Sun Books digital learning initiative, delivering high-quality educational resources to children in Nigeria, Uganda, and Kenya. By combining literacy instruction, solar energy, and digital technology, Sun Books is revolutionizing access to education in off-grid communities. The program features more than 800 e-books, interactive literacy exercises, and comprehensive teaching materials, alongside sustained teacher training to ensure lasting impact.
