Demo / Trial Field Operation Officer

Job Summary

The Trial Field Operation Officer will be responsible for planning, executing, and managing field trials and demonstration for vegetable crop varieties on a one-acre plot.
This role involves monitoring crop performance, collecting and analyzing data, and liaising with stakeholders to ensure successful trial and demo operations.
The officer will play a key role in providing insights on varietal performance and selections based on trial results.

Key Responsibilities

Work with trial planning schedules for vegetable varietal demonstrations and field trials in collaboration with sales teams.
Planting, irrigation, pruning, trellising, weeding, fertilization, nursery and crop management activities for trial and demo plots.
Ensure proper labeling, mapping, and varietal dentification for accurate data collection.
Liaise with Agronomist to implement integrated pest and disease management strategies.
Monitor crop growth, phenological stages, and overall plant health.
Collect agronomic data, including yield, disease resistance, and marketable quality metrics.
Analyze trial data to assess varietal performance and provide detailed reports.
Liaise with internal teams, including agronomists, and sales teams, to share trial insights.
Liaise with sales and commercial teams to organize and host field days and demonstration events for farmers, customers, and stakeholders.
Provide technical support and training to stakeholders on varietal performance and best agronomic practices during field days.

Qualifications and Experience

Interested candidates should possess HND / B. Sc degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, Crop Science, Agricultural Science, or related field.
Minimum of 2-3 years hands-onexperience in field trial operations, crop management, or agricultural research.
Strong knowledge of vegetable crop production and varietal evaluation.

Skills and Competencies:

Excellent field management and operational planning skills.
Passionate about greens and fieldwork.
Proficiency in data collection and reporting.
Good communication skills. Ability to speak Hausa will be an added advantage.
Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to data integrity.

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

Ability to work in outdoor field environments under varying weather conditions.
Ability to coordinate and supervise labor workers.
