School Nurse

Job Summary

To provide medical care, health education, and counseling to students, staff, and faculty within the school community.

Key Responsibilities

Medical Care: Provide first aid, emergency care, and treatment for illnesses and injuries.
Health Assessments: Conduct health screenings, monitor student health records, and identify health concerns.
Health Education: Educate students, staff, and faculty on healthy habits, disease prevention, and wellness strategies.
Counseling: Provide emotional support, guidance, and referrals for students dealing with personal or health-related issues.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and confidential student health records.
Collaboration: Work with teachers, administrators, and parents to develop and implement health-related policies and programs.
Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement emergency response plans, conduct drills, and provide training on first aid and CPR.
Health Promotion: Organize health-related events, workshops, and campaigns to promote healthy lifestyles.
Communication: Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents regarding health concerns, treatment plans, and follow-up care.

Requirements

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) or related field.
Licensure: Current registered nurse (RN) licensure in the state.
Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in pediatric nursing, school nursing, or a related field.
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and other relevant certifications (e.g., CPR, First Aid).
Skills: Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Working Conditions:

Work Environment: School setting, with frequent interactions with students, staff, and faculty.
Physical Demands: Ability to lift, move, and position students as needed.
Emotional Demands: Ability to manage stress, anxiety, and emotional situations.
