Network Engineer

JOB SUMMARY

The Network and Security Engineer role provides the organizational implementation of the network and security architecture, policy and procedure, ensuring organization IT assets are adequately protected, access are adequately managed and overall network security objectives is achieved.
In addition, the role provides adequate operational activities and support of the network and security needs, evaluating systems, monitoring the environment and deploying change in a managed manner and compliant with all regulatory, cybersecurity and organizational policies.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Understanding complex technical issues and managing them within a fast-paced business environment
Maintaining all the software and hardware in relation to security including but not limited to routers, switches and all network infrastructure.
Maintain LAN. WAN, firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, VoIP, and web and email security programs and protocols regularly.
Identifying current and emerging technology issues including security trends, vulnerabilities and threats
Threat intelligence management and response
Sourcing and implementing new security solutions to better protect the organisation.
Conducting proactive research to analyse security weaknesses and recommend appropriate strategies.
Liaising with vendors to implement security solutions.
Respond to, and document, any security threats, resolve technical faults and allocate resources to deliver real solutions in a cost-effective way.
Implementing network security blueprints prepared by security architects.
Managing information, data and infrastructure access
Maintaining and updating firewalls and testing the organization’s network and systems
Testing existing safety systems and protocols
Maintaining the regulatory systems about ISMS policy (Information System Management Systems)
Investigations of Security breach alert
Monitoring of web security gateways, perimeter security, network access controls, endpoint security

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

The ideal candidate for this role must possess the following competencies and qualification

Degree in business administration or a technology-related field required.
Professional security management certification
Minimum of ten years of experience in a combination of infrastructure, risk management, information security and IT jobs
Knowledge of common information security management frameworks, such as ISO/IEC 27001, and NIST.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and high level of personal integrity
Innovative thinking and leadership with an ability to lead and motivate cross-functional, interdisciplinary teams
Experience with contract and vendor negotiations and management including managed services.

String time management and organizational skills.
Effective writing and presentation skills
Highly meticulous with critical thinking skills and resourceful in problem solving.
Exposure to Linux and Windows OS.
