Job Description
This position provides critical support to pre-field missionaries, missionaries traveling to and from the MTC as well as missionaries traveling to and from their permanent missions. Secures travel reservations, coordinates visa acquisitions, interacts regularly with diverse customers, and resolves a wide range of complex travel and/or documentation problems that span the entire Church Travel office in a responsive and professional manner. Will handle sensitive problems and interface with key vendors, department, and management at all levels in the Church.
Responsibilities
Provide support to pre-field missionaries several weeks before their travel.
Prepare detailed itineraries, including restrictions and other helpful information for mission travelers.
Provide itinerary and cost details to travel accounting staff.
Submit check requisitions for special vendors to accounting for processing.
Audit documents from special vendors for accuracy and compliance.
Manage and monitor travel vendors, tools, and service providers’ performance against commitments.
Plan and book cost-efficient travel itineraries, advising travelers on available options and associated costs.
Coordinate with mission leaders to provide alternative travel solutions when needed.
Assist with visa procurement, ensuring quality and regulatory standards are met.
Book travel reservations for airlines, hotels, trains, automobiles, and more via reservation systems, the Internet, or direct vendor communication.
Provide support to other travel coordinators, mission offices, and visa agents as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Travel and Tourism, Hospitality, Business, or a related field.
At least 5 years of experience in the travel industry or equivalent supervisory experience, including expertise in global visa management systems, visa requirements, reservation platforms, and travel agency bookings.
Strong ability to understand and address the needs of diverse audiences through effective oral and written communication.
Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with travel partners.
Excellent teamwork skills and ability to thrive in a collaborative environment.
Demonstrates flexibility, initiative, diplomacy, and enthusiasm in all tasks.
Strong customer service orientation.
Proficient in financial management, information systems, and analytical tasks.
Skilled in using Microsoft Word and Excel, with the ability to quickly learn new software.
Fluency in French (spoken and written) is an added advantage.
Must be an active driver and hold a valid driver’s license.
Must be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints and worthy of a temple recommend.
