Role Overview:
The Finance Officer will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of CS-SUNN, ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures, managing budgets, preparing financial reports, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information. This role is critical in supporting the financial health and sustainability of CS-SUNN’s projects and operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management:
Manage day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions in accordance with organizational policies.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
Monitor project and organizational budgets to ensure expenditures are within approved limits.
Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support decision-making.
Financial Reporting:
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with donor reporting requirements and timelines.
Provide financial updates and analysis to the project team and senior management.
Compliance and Audit:
Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and procedures, as well as donor regulations.
Coordinate and support internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and responses to audit findings.
Implement audit recommendations to strengthen financial controls and processes.
Accounting and Bookkeeping:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledger entries, bank reconciliations, and financial statements.
Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and receipts.
Payroll and Payments:
Manage payroll processes, ensuring accurate calculation and timely payment of salaries and benefits.
Process payments to vendors, consultants, and other stakeholders in accordance with organizational policies.
Risk Management:
Identify and assess financial risks, implementing strategies to mitigate them.
Ensure proper documentation and internal controls to safeguard organizational assets.
Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
Master’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field is preferred.
Professional Certifications:
Professional certification in accounting or finance (e.g., ICAN, CPA, ACCA, CIMA).
Familiarity with financial management software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, SAP).
Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in financial management, preferably in the nutrition or public health sector.
Proven experience in budgeting, financial reporting, and accounting.
Experience with donor-funded projects and familiarity with donor compliance requirements.
Knowledge of local and international nutrition policies and best practices.
Skills:
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
