Medical Physicist

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Medical Physicist at NSIA-LUTH Cancer Centre in Lagos State, Nigeria. The Medical Physicist will be responsible for tasks such as treatment planning, medical physics, radiation safety, and dosimetry, ensuring the delivery of high-quality cancer care services to patients.

Job Scope:

This role provides support to manage all aspects related to clinical practice and patient care. The Medical Physicists will plan radiation treatments for cancer patients, study radiation effects on patients, ensure equipment is safe and working effectively, develop and ensure compliance to safety procedures, consult and guide other clinicians.

The Medical physicists will use a variety of analytical, computer-aided and bioengineering techniques to provide support for the treatment of patients in areas such as radiotherapy, x-ray imaging, ultrasound, tomography, radiology, nuclear magnetic resonance imaging and lasers.

 

Job Responsibilities

Clinical Practice:

Contribute clinical expertise to patient care and providing guidance to other clinicians;
Ensuring the highest standards in patient care are maintained.
Researching, developing and evaluating new analytical techniques;
Planning and ensuring safe and accurate treatment of patients;
Creating new systems to investigate medical conditions in patients;
Providing advice and ensure compliance for radiation protection; training and updating healthcare, scientific and technical staff;managing radiotherapy quality assurance programs;
Carry-out mathematical modelling;
 Calibration and maintaining of medical equipment
Keep informed on advancements in the field and contributing to medical research programs.
Ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and safety standards.
Performing administrative duties and risk management.
Provide support to emergency services and other clinical areas within the Centre.

In addition to the above;

A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience post NYSC experience is required;
A degree in Physics is required.
A Master’s degree in a related field will be advantageous.
Clinical risk management experience.
Advanced knowledge of medical research methodology and ethics.
Advanced ability to ensure the highest standards in patient care and compliance with healthcare and radiation regulations.
 Ability to keep abreast of advancements in the field of specialization.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
