Job Summary
The Head of the Mechanical Workshop Department will oversee the technical repairs of faulty parts and components, as well as handle fabrications within the plant.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Select the appropriate tools, machines and materials to be used in preparation for machinery work.
Supervise and conduct repair, fabrication and reclamation of spare parts of all sections in the plant.
Ensure high availability of all workshop mechanical equipment and systems like machining and fabrication work equipment.
Minimize the cost of workshop maintenance and optimize equipment lifecycle cost.
Supervise maintenance measures in workshop and adhere to safety and quality norms.
Ensure availability of spares and other infrastructure for maintenance of workshop.
Plan resource requirements for workshop mechanical maintenance –manpower, materials and contract.
Ensure compliance with procedures relating to documentation and record keeping of equipment history
Conduct performance reviews of subordinates.
Prepare budgetary requirements for each year.
Prepare periodic reports for the attention of the Head of maintenance.
Implement data protection policies and practices of Egbin Power Plc.
Ensure compliance with the NDPR and other data protection laws, and data protection policies.
Undertake Data Protection Impact Assessment as applicable to curb the risk during data processing operations.
Ensure awareness, understanding and application of QHSE policy on assigned jobs, ensure the integration of the IMS requirements (ISO 9001:2015, 14001:2015 & 45001:2018) into the departmental processes;
Engage, direct and support persons /units/departments to understand and identify hazards, risks, environmental aspects and Impacts as it is related to their jobs.
Ensure that the Integrated Management System (ISO 9001:2015, 14001:2015 & 45001:2018) achieve its intended results within departmental processes.
Education and Work Experience
Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum of ten (10) years of work experience with exposure to mechanical workshop engineering.
Skills and Competencies
Good technical knowledge of component repairs, machining/welding tools and equipment.
Knowledge of standard operating procedures for machining or welding and component repair.
Knowledge of safety requirements and environmental aspects.
Knowledge of power plant equipment.
Knowledge of the power generation process.
Interpersonal skills and creativity.
Excellent (i.e. strong oral, written, interpersonal and illustrative) communication skills as the role requires interaction with different levels of professionals.
