Compensation and Benefits Specialist

To design, implement and maintain rewards, compensation and benefit programs and GZI processes that attract, retain and foster a positive workplace culture whilst ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and alignment with business goals. Effective and accurate payroll management, compensation surveys and market benchmarking.

Roles & Responsibilities

Designs, implements and maintains a compensation structure that promotes equity and internal compensation parity for all employees.
Designs and implements a compensation and rewards framework that will provide a competitive edge for GZI and facilitate employee retention. Conducts salary surveys to ensure the continued competitiveness of SZI remuneration package.
Conducts periodic employee costs forecasting, and annual budgetary management to ensure cost savings.
Implements and maintains Group life, Medical scheme, and requirements of workmen compensation act as stipulated within the regulatory framework.
Ensures the prompt resolution of problems relating to employee compensation and benefits.
Processing of annual pension certificate, PAYE filing and prompt payment of ITF, NSITF etc.
Coordinates the management of employee’s tax and pension.
Advises other HR team members regarding appropriate job offers, pricing and grading of positions as well as manages annual enrolment process and develops collateral material to effectively communicate benefit programs.
Working with plan brokers, third party administrators and investment advisors.
Manages salary reviews and performance management programs for merit, bonus, commission, and incentive plans.
Oversees payroll processing and ensures timely and accurate payment to employees, maintaining compliance with legal requirements (overtime, shift, loan computation, leave allowance, gratuity, exit computation etc).
Prompt addressing of discrepancies and resolving issues as needed.
Ensures HRIS and payroll systems are optimized for accuracy. efficiency and compliance.
Interfaces regularly with union representatives. Ensures prompt resolution of any issues or conflicts with the union.
Assists the HR manager in overseeing grievance handling and disciplinary procedures for complete resolution.

Required Education/ Qualification

Minimum of HND or First Degree in Human Resources or a related social science discipline
Relevant certification from a reputable professional institution e.g. CIPM, CIPD, SHRM
An MBA or Masters in a relevant discipline would be an added advantage
At least 5 years post-qualification experience in Rewards and Compensation, Payroll Management and Benefits Administration.
Strong knowledge of compensation and benefits practices, principles and regulations.proficient in HRIS and payroll ERP systems.
