Your main goal will be to create a supportive learning environment that will help your students meet their learning goals. You’ll oversee their progress through interesting and diverse methods by tracking their assignment and exam grades to provide useful feedback.
Responsibilities
As an English and Humanities teacher, you will be required to:
Organize classroom lectures and coursework
Teach basic English skills including reading, writing, and speaking
Research new language teaching method
Emphasize the rules of composition, grammar and sentence construction
Teach students the correct pronunciation of words
Teach students to think critically when studying literature and poetry
Teach students the spelling of words and their meanings
Engage students to ensure a lively classroom atmosphere
Collaborate with teaching staffs and administrators to foster a good student experience
Identify students with special requirements and create individualized plans
Assign homework and interesting exercises
Provide feedback based on workload and classroom behaviour.
Teaching some Humanities-related subjects as highlighted in the Humanities subjects section across all classes.
Requirements
Previous experience as an English teacher
Relevant teaching certification may be required.
High proficiency in English
Knowledge of various teaching methods
Deep understanding of the Nigerian and British curricular for the upper primary.
Exceptional organizational, listening and communication skills
Dedication to students and education
Proficient computer skills
Minimum degree: BA/ B Ed. in English language
Strong multitasking abilities.
Excellent leadership skills.
