The Accounting Officer is responsible for managing and overseeing financial transactions, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. They support the organization by providing financial insights, preparing reports, and managing budgets.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management:
Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including ledgers, invoices, and receipts.
Process accounts payable and receivable transactions.
Manage payroll and ensure timely payment to employees.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Assist in preparing annual budgets and forecasts.
Monitor budget utilization and provide variance analysis.
Advise management on budgetary performance and cost-saving opportunities.
Reporting:
Generate and present financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Ensure timely submission of tax returns and compliance with tax regulations.
Conduct audits and prepare internal and external audit reports.
Compliance and Regulation:
Ensure compliance with local and international accounting standards and financial regulations.
Maintain accurate documentation for audits and legal purposes.
Stay updated on changes in accounting policies and procedures.
Support to Management:
Provide financial insights to assist decision-making.
Assist in developing financial policies and procedures.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth financial operations.
Key Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Proven experience as an Accounting Officer or in a similar role.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) and MS Excel.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
Preferred Skills:
Professional certifications such as CPA, ACCA, or CMA are a plus.
Experience with tax filings and regulatory compliance.
Knowledge of industry-specific financial practices.
Work Environment:
This role typically involves working in an office environment with occasional extended hours during audits or reporting periods
